Our work
From Snares to Sculptures
We transform recovered wire snares into handcrafted sculptures of Uganda’s wildlife. Each piece is made by local artisans, provides direct income to communities, and supports ongoing conservation work.
Would you like a snare art piece? By purchasing a piece, you are making a real contribution to protecting wildlife, combatting illegal hunting, and supporting local communities.

The Problem: Illegal Wire Snares
Snares are the biggest threat to wildlife in Murchison Falls National Park. They are inexpensive, easy to make, and widely used by poachers. However, they are indiscriminate, meaning they can trap any animal that passes through, including some of Africa’s most charismatic species such as lions, elephants, giraffes, and leopards.
Injuries from snares are often severe and visible across the park. Each year, we work with Uganda Wildlife Authority to remove over 10,000 snares, helping to prevent thousands of animal injuries.
Empowering Communities
Local Communities are central to everything we do.
We work to not only secure a future for wildlife, but to empower local human communities.
We currently support artisan groups in 3 local communities; Pakwach, Wadelai, and Panyimur. Many of our artisans are former poachers or young people at risk of entering poaching. Through Snares to Wares, they gain stable income, practical skills, and new opportunities.
